Joined as a 10 year old goalkeeper. Didn’t grow by the age of 13 so had to play on pitch. Played I think in every position. Played as part of the team that won the B&B Junior Cup in 1985/86 and was part of the original team that entered the South Midlands League and played in the 1st team until retiring in 1998. Assisted Les Carr in running one of the junior sides in the early 1980s. Served on the committee a couple of times. Ran the bar for a while and had a brief spell as player manager of the 1st team and probably much more.

Little bit about myself and my history with Risborough Rangers… Straight out of youth football , I was asked to train with Rangers by the legendary Frank Carter… I can remember my debut for the first team still – new years day away to Tring Athletic playing left back ?!? My playing career took me to Brackley Town and then onto Stocklake . Since retiring I’ve started coaching and I am progressing nicely with my badges – I’m currently assistant manager at Aylesbury FC but have had to privilege to help Andy Quigley with the juniors on a few occasions.

I was a junior player at Risborough from 1978 to 1985, under the management of Dave Sullivan. Even then the coaches were great! I returned to the senior club in 1989, and was lucky enough to play in the 1st team in the south midlands league from the outset. I dropped down into the reserves for the final few years I spent with the club but found this was even more enjoyable, the banter is definitely what I’ve come to realise is what I missed most since playing. Now I help coach a junior team, which is great, apart from people keep asking me if Andy Quigley is my dad!

Enjoyed watching my middle son play for the U8s in the early days then helped form the Pan-Disability team with Mick Baxter, Andy Quigley and Jeff Galatin. Risborough took me through my FA L1 coaching course, something which I enjoyed immensely and never thought I would have a chance to do. I managed the Pan-Disability Team for 3 seasons before handing over to the capable hands of a manager and 3 coaches – they are now enjoying a good run in the BOBI league without my expert coaching skills 🙂

First joined with Ken Sheppard as a nephew played in his team. Fairly soon joined the committee under Charles Avery as Chairman. When my son reached 7 teamed up with Les Carr to run that age group team. Became a referee so I could competently run the line. Stayed with the team as it progressed through the age groups and ended up as linesman for the reserves. Also managed the reserves for a while until we persuaded Derek Wallace to return. Spent many happy hours helping build the clubhouse and renovating and maintaining the club and grounds. Left as I moved my business to the Arabian gulf where I refereed many good matches including Rangers v Celtic.
Now retired and living the good life in Southern Spain. No Football but plenty of golf.
